An independent, non-denominational, Gospel preaching, Bible teaching, and Spirit-filled church.
We preach the good news of Jesus Christ, proclaiming that salvation is found in no one else. We teach through the Bible showing how God’s gracious redemptive plan unfolds.
Why the name?
We live in Muizenberg. This is a local church, easily accessible to all locals, although also open and welcoming to people from surrounding areas and further afield.
We are devoted to proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and consistent expository preaching and teaching (Acts 2:42; Tim 2:15, 4:2; Tit. 2:1, 15). We endeavor to set forth the truth plainly (2 Cor 4:2). The church sets out to be a Bethlehem [Hebrew – House of Bread], a ‘breadbasket’, expounding the Scriptures to feed the local flock and the wider church of God. Our desire is for every member to continually “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Pet. 3:18; Col. 1:27-28), and to bring the life, truth, grace, light, and love of Christ- who is ‘the Bread of Life’ (Jn. 6:35)- to a lost and needy world.
We are privileged to be a part of the universal body of believers, the royal priesthood and holy nation belonging to God (1 Pet. 2:9). But we also exist as a local expression of His called out people (ekklesia), set apart to worship and glorify Him, in our particular location and time. Jesus Christ is Lord (Phil 2:11), Chief cornerstone (Mt 21:42, 1 Pet 2:7-10), our Head and Chief Shepherd (Eph 1:22; 1 Pt 5:4), and the Overseer of our souls (2 Pt 2:25). We submit willingly to God’s plan and purposes for us.
